Starting at school is one of the milestones for any child and their family. At Michael Park we recognise how important this transition is and the school and kindergarten work closely with the child and family to make this a smooth and positive experience.
There are two teachers in class 1, one of these is a permanently attached specialist to the age. In term 4 of the year prior to joining the school, our specialist teacher begins visiting the kindergarten and getting to know the children and supporting them to begin their journey together. This is enhanced by detailed notes from all the kindergarten staff about eery child, which is shared with all teachers.
As the term progresses the children visit the school more often, get to know key people and places and also have buddy time with the current class 1. Parents are also involved at this stage so they can be an active part of this fabulous journey.
